Ah, my sweet girl! Everyone, meet Ella, the newest member of our family! I’m so excited to share this post because there are so many things you need to know about her and her breed. But first, a little about Ella and why we decided to take the leap of getting a new puppy!
When I was a little girl my parents gave my brother and I each a puppy and it was a memory I’ve always remembered. Seeing your dream puppy pop out of a gift box on Christmas Morning, a birthday, or just because is so special and I really wanted my kids to have a memory like that. We took that leap on Christmas morning when Aria and Archer woke up to a special gift straight from the North Pole.
She is just as sweet as she looks in photos and has become fast friends with the kids and even Ezra (our almost 10 year old Golden Retriever). Not to mention Blake and I are obsessed with our newest little cuddle buddy.

It took some convincing on my part to get Blake on board with adding a new puppy to the family, but as soon as I came across Ella and the sweet family we got her from, we were hooked. We found her on Instagram through @lakehousedoodles, located in Georgetown TX. They breed Australian Labradoodles and just happened to be looking for a new family to be a Guardian home for Ella! If you’re not sure what that means click Here (Guardian (lakehousedoodles.com) We met with Andrew and Cheré Davis, the owners of Lake House Doodles, to discuss Ella and if we would be a good fit for her, and they could not have been more amazing. They are the sweetest people and we are so blessed to have found them. They told us all about Australian Labradoodles, and what to expect with our new puppy! They had awesome grooming tips, feeding tips, and overall made us feel like a part of their family. If you’re looking for a puppy I would highly recommend following their Instagram, @lakehousedoodles, and getting in contact with them about future litters! They have 3 beautiful girls, including Ella, that they will be breeding for years to come.
Blake and I knew we wanted a doodle, and especially a miniature one. We wanted a smaller dog to make it easier for traveling and bringing her along, and after having a Golden Retriever for the past 10 years and vacuuming up enough hair to cover the entire planet, having a dog that was hypoallergenic, and almost doesn’t shed at all was a must! We had never heard of Australian Labradoodles before coming across Ella, but we are so glad we did. They are a mix between a Labrador retriever, cocker spaniel, and a poodle. They were initially bred in Australia with the idea of a dog that was friendly & smart, could be a great service dog, and would be asthma and allergy friendly. They tend to be very friendly and playful when free, and quiet and calm when handled. From our experience with Ella, she loves to play with the kids and knows how to be gentle with them, and the best part is she is just as happy cuddling up with us on the couch when it is time to relax. Some other dogs and types of doodles are high energy all the time, and our favorite part about Ella and Australian Labradoodles in general is that they are not always going a million miles an hour! It’s so nice that she knows when to slow down and just relax with us! Ella is a miniature doodle so she shouldn’t be more than 30 pounds fully grown, and about 16-20 inches tall. This is a super manageable size and perfect for our family!
We are so excited to have Ella in the family, and we cannot wait to meet her puppies in the future! If you are looking at adding a puppy to your family you have to follow @lakehousedoodles and keep up with us as Ella grows. Trust me, their puppies will melt your heart! Check out these other shots we’ve gotten of Ella over the past 3 weeks of having her in our lives. 🙂
