The Weekend Diaries: Kemah, Texas + Vlog

Happy Wednesday loves! I’m so excited to finally publish this post because we had such a blast in Kemah, and I was so excited to share it with you guys! Be sure to watch the Vlog I made below because there are some hilarious clips you don’t want to miss, and I also did a home tour for the fun AirBnb bayhouse we stayed at!

We stayed in a beautiful family home that was on the water and the views were incredible! The drive from Austin only took around 3 hours and the tropical vibes were on point! It felt like another world but was so close to home too! Right across the water was the Kemah Boardwalk which is where you can find a ton of great restaurants and fun carnival rides like a huge Ferris Wheel!  We also had a front row seat to the firework show in the bay from our private deck! Here’s the link to our amazing place: High Tide Bayhouse

Speaking of restaurants, we ate at some of the best places while we were there! I’m going to list them all right here for reference:

Breakfast

Habanero’s Taco Co.– These breakfast tacos were so yummy and fresh! These, honestly, were some of the best breakfast tacos I’ve had in a long time! 5 STARS.

The Red Door Cafe– This experience started off amazing but finished a little rocky (ending with our meal being comped). All in all, the food was absolutely delicious! If you go, you HAVE TO order the beignets. Do not leave without eating them. We were stunned with how good they were!  Better than bourbon street beignets, dare I say. 4 STARS. (Picture below)

Lunch

The Pizza Oven– (At the Boardwalk) We ordered a Margherita Pizza for lunch on Friday and it was perfect. So fresh and yummy! Definitely recommend this place! 5 STARS. (picture below)

Dinner

Outriggers– We ate at Outriggers on Friday evening when our friends got to town and I ordered the popcorn shrimp (I know.. I’m 5 years old). My food was super yummy but I had to get my margarita removed from our tab because I could only take one drink of it. Margaritas are not their strong point haha but everyone enjoyed their food!  I would say this is definitely a cool place with a local beach vibe.  Live music downstairs made for a fun environment. 3 STARS.

Landry’s– (At the Boardwalk) We went to Landry’s on Saturday night for Haylee’s and my birthday dinner and it was really yummy! We sat right next to the windows lining the boardwalk and had a beautiful view of the sunset!  I ordered wine with my snapper and it was perfect. We finished off our meal with cremé brûlée and bread pudding! 4.5 STARS

On Saturday we drove 20 mins to Galveston to go to a nice beach. There are some beaches closer to Kemah, but we wanted to go to one that had more going on and lots of sand was a must! East Beach in Galveston was really beautiful and wasn’t too crowded either! Apparently they host Volleyball tournaments sometimes too, which I thought was fun! We took lots of pictures, explored and relaxed which was so nice. If you want to see pictures of the beach, check out my post from East Beach here.  It is also the only beach in Galveston that allows alcohol, so it definitely caters to a younger crowd.

This trip was so much fun and much needed for this Momma! We have already discussed planning a trip back and will definitely be staying in the waterfront Bayhouse again. Thanks for stopping by to read and I hope you enjoy the video!

XO,

Kaily Mae
