Hey guys! Today is a pretty special post (hence the title haha) and I’m so excited to share this amazing experience with you all. Everyone tells you how incredible this love is and how there will never be anything like it in the whole world, and I never really understood it until I actually held my baby in my arms. I was so shocked by the love I feel towards Aria, and of course I knew I would be in love but now I understand why people say that. She is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen and I’m already wondering how quick this time with her will fly by.
I carried Aria to 41 weeks and I honestly was pretty miserable. There were so many times leading up to her birth were I got my hopes up thinking she would come sooner rather than later, but by the time we got to 40 weeks I was still only dilated to a 2, so my doctor and I decided we should schedule an induction on my 41 week mark. I hoped that she would come naturally so bad, but I wasn’t prepared to carry past 41 weeks so that was a decision we all made together. She was born Monday, February 22nd at 12:19 p.m. The night before we were scheduled to arrive at the hospital at 8 p.m. to get a pill to ripen my cervix in hopes to help me dilate. Once I had that, we slept through the night and started Pitocin around 6 a.m. the next morning. I started to feel some intense contractions (which was by far the worst part for me) and then I got an epidural. I felt pretty good after the epidural but then I started to feel my contractions again in what they call a “hot-spot” in my side. They got really bad and I asked for more medicine from the epidural but after they measured me and realized I was at a 9, my doctor said no and that it was time to start pushing. Within 45 minutes Aria was here weighing 7 lbs 9 oz and measuring 20 inches long. Both Blake and I started crying and it was such a special moment. I loved my doctor and all of my nurses so much. It couldn’t have gone any better than it did. I feel so thankful for the easy delivery and great care that I received.
Aria is now a week and a half old and she is eating like a champ and sleeping quite a bit through the night. I cant complain at all and we feel really lucky to have gotten such an easy baby (so far) haha. I hope you enjoy reading about our experience, and I am eager to continue sharing our story with my readers. I look forward to integrating posts about our little family, while continuing to give you guys my take on all my fashion and lifestyle faves.
